Disney’s latest film, Zootopia 2, recorded a dull opening weekend in India. Released on November 27, the second instalment of the famed animated series collected less than Rs 10 crore at the domestic box office.
As per Sacnilk reports, Zootopia 2 earned Rs 8.35 crore net in the first three days in India, surpassing Inside Out 2’s collection.
Zootopia 2 Fails to Create Buzz In India
Despite strong local promotions and Shraddha Kapoor voicing Judy Hopps in the Hindi version, Zootopia 2 collected only Rs 1.06 crore on its opening day in India. The film showed slight improvement over the weekend, earning Rs 3.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 3.6 crore on Sunday, according to Sacnilk.
While the film continues to perform well globally, Zootopia 2 struggled to draw Indian audiences. Its opening weekend numbers remained lower than Moana 2, though it did manage to surpass the three-day collection of Inside Out 2.
Zootopia 2 Is Soaring High In International Box Office
Zootopia 2 became the first Hollywood film ever to cross the $100 million mark in a single day in China. As per reports, the film collected a whopping $104.8 million on Saturday, surpassing the previous single-day record held by Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame. The 2019 film held the record for earning an estimated total collection of $97.5 million in a single day. The global frenzy surrounding the film has been electrifying, except in India, where audiences have shown little to no enthusiasm so far.
Zootopia 2 Plot and Cast
Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, the buddy cop animated film follows Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde pursuing Zootopia’s new and mysterious resident, Gary De’Snake, as they try to clear their names.
In the sequel, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, Shakira, Idris Elba, Alan Tudyk, Nate Torrence, Don Lake, Bonnie Hunt, and Jenny Slate reprise their roles from the first film. The film also featured a versatile lineup of newcomers, including Ke Huy Quan, Fortune Feimster, Andy Samberg, David Strathairn, Patrick Warburton, Quinta Brunson, and Danny Trejo.
Zootopia 2 premiered at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on November 13, ahead of its worldwide theatrical release. Box office reports suggested that the film grossed $556.4 million worldwide, becoming the tenth highest-grossing film of 2025.
