The India Meteorological Department (IMD) , in its All India Weather Summary and Forecast Bulletin issued on December 11, 2025, at 7:56 pm, has outlined a series of significant weather developments expected to unfold across the country beginning December 12.
The forecast, valid daily from 0830 IST to 0830 IST the next day, highlights a mix of dense fog, cold wave conditions, winter rainfall over the Himalayas and thunderstorms in the island territories. The coming days are likely to mark a strengthening of winter conditions in several parts of India.
Winter systems to influence the western Himalayas
According to the IMD, a fresh but weak western disturbance will begin affecting the western Himalayan region from December 13. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to record light precipitation on December 14 due to this system. Though not intense, the disturbance will maintain a consistent spell of winter precipitation across the mountains. The IMD has also included isolated to scattered rainfall in its outlook for December 14 to 16 over regions such as Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and the island territories.
